Zoë Madewell believes children and adults learn music best the way they learn language,
through play, curiosity, rhythm, and meaningful repetition. As a pianist, educator, and parent,
her life’s work has centered around helping learners of all ages build confidence, literacy,
and genuine musical expression.
Growing up as the oldest of ten children, Zoë first learned piano on an out-of-tune instrument
with sticky keys. That experience shaped her understanding that music is not reserved for
the privileged, the “talented,” or the formally trained.
It belongs to everyone. With connection, rhythm, and a caring guide, music becomes a language anyone can speak.
Zoë went on to become Music Director for 11 Montessori schools across Dallas–Fort Worth,
where she taught thousands of students, including neurodivergent learners, to read rhythm,
sing in new languages, and build musical skill through a language-first approach.
She observed that when music is taught the way children learn to speak, they thrive regardless of
age, reading ability, or learning style.
In 2016, she founded Irving Fine Arts Academy to create a welcoming arts community for
both children and adults, where music, dance, and theatre are accessible, joyful, and
grounded in real skill building.
Under her leadership, the academy has been voted
Best of Irving four years in a row,
with programs that cultivate confidence, artistry, and lifelong learning.
She is also the creator of Musicology Lab® and the
See It • Say It • Play It™ system,
a language-based approach that helps preschoolers read, write music,
and play the piano as early as age two, without needing years of private lessons.
This innovation is now being implemented in schools in Dallas and Dubai,
and has been praised for supporting neurodivergent and bilingual learners.
Every learner is musical.
Our role is to help them discover how.
We welcome inquisitive preschoolers, dedicated teen performers, adult beginners,
and lifelong learners returning to the arts. Whether a child is learning to tap
their first rhythm pattern or an adult is playing again after 20 years away,
we teach music as a language — accessible, expressive, and empowering at every age.
